A little while ago, in a post about going carless in my new home city of Savannah, I dismissed sweat as a concern. Well, the Georgia summer hadn't quite kicked in yet, but now that I've had a good couple months of it, I have to admit I was at least half-wrong. Never mind biking to work--just walking to my fucking mailbox is enough, some days, to give my shirt sweat rings like a character on Lost. That's why I say I was only half-wrong; downtown Savannah is very much a park-and-walk environment, so no matter how you get around here, you're gonna sweat.

Lived in that beautiful city for 14 years - you'll get used to it. Didn't even have a car with a/c for five years. Of course, after 14 years I moved to Northern California! Enjoy your time there, I do miss it.
I was so happy to hear how much you were enjoying your new home back when you wrote your original post. But, I also new that the heat was on it's way & that there's no way that I could ever deal with it. No way.
My fair haired, fair skinned English & Irish stock, just does NOT deal with any sort of heat well.
Believe it or not, even the summers here in Buffalo are too hot for me. So, any place down south would be out of the question for me.
