Angel Dare is a survivor in the world of porn. Avoiding drugs and all the bad things that can happen to girls in a profession that chews them up and spits them out, Angel Dare finally figures out that she does better helping other girls in the profession and opens an agency to do just that. She is well off, still gorgeous and loves what she does. Then an old friend entices her back for one more movie. It will star a new talent that she has been lusting after anyway so it's like getting a perk for her work.
Then Angel Dare finds herself naked, tied up and shot in the trunk of a shitty Honda Civic. Seems that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and very, very bad men think she's responsible for something that she is completely innocent of.
Now, Angel Dare finds herself on a trail of intrigue littered with bodies of her closest friends as she tracks down the men responsible for ruining her life.
It's time to ruin theirs.
To say that I tore through Money Shot in a hurry would be an understatement. I couldn't put the thing down. Ms. Faust's characters are so realistic and the situations she puts them never require any suspension of disbelief. This story shows the seedier side of the porn industry and the predicament Angel Dare finds herself in is just pure fascination.
Having said that there was one thing;
I can't mention it without spoilers so, I won't but, there is one thing that happens towards the end of the book that pulled me out of the story and I felt that the character would have never acted in the manner that they did. It spoiled the book for me a little, but overall I thought that this was one of the best things I have read this year. Yeah, I know that I said that earlier with Plunder Of The Sun, but I'm serious. Plunder Of The Sun was old school pulp fiction while this is new stuff. They can both be some of the best stuff I've read. I'll be looking for more of Ms. Faust's work in the near future after I get through this pile of Hard Case Crime books.
Next up; Baby Moll by John Farris.

Funny, I was checking out the delightful Ms. Faust's blog just the other day but somehow I missed mention of this title. Haven't read any of the Hard Case pulps yet but they seem like good stuff. As for Mr. Farris, I recently tried to read his '70s bestseller THE FURY but, uh, no-go.
Oh I hated The Fury. I tried reading it back in the day when they made a movie of it and it was as bad as the movie. No real surprise as Farris wrote The screenplay as well. I still have hopes for the book. You'll find out soon.
