Madame Brutal's solo adventures started in 1969, which is kinda ironic, considering that she's definitely not the kind of woman who gives a shit about mutual pleasure. The fumetti anthology that was bold enough to print her escapades was called Zip, and right at the start, in Zip 1/1969 (cover above), we learn everything about her past. The brutal story starts in the present, though, with a college professor lecturing his students about how he believes that gratuituos evil does not really exist. He then gets immediately shot with an arrow.

"Fools! Evil exists! It is me!" the escaping Madame Brutal exclaims.

We then find out about Madame's past: she was born Marta Carolina Brigida Vernuil, and ever since her birth she's been pure cruelty. "At last I'm an orphan!" the horrible child rejoices after orchestrating the death of her parents.

She learns the wonders of lesbian love from her aunt Sonia, and then murders her in the hopes of getting a big inheritance. Instead she gets thrown in jail, where she fakes her own death to escape. After assuming a new identity as Madame Brutal, she starts the sadistic shenanigans I told you about in my last post, battling the superagent Goldrake and losing her leg in the process.

Zip 2/1970

In this story Madame Brutal has a brilliant masterplan: she kidnaps a lot of babysitters and turns them into lesbian slaves.

Zip 3/1970

It seems I made a mistake, when I said in my last post that Madame Brutal's prosthesis turned inexplicably back to a normal leg: in this story she actually gets a leg transplant. Shit, my memory just isn't what it used to be. Please forgive me, Madam!

Zip 4/1970

Madame Brutal is peddling a meat product called Mukka. It has a side effect of turning men impotent and docile, just the way she likes them.

All these stories are collected in Goldrake 125 and 126, by the way. Madame Brutal does appear also in Zips 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11, but some of the stories are really bad, I guess that's why they were never reprinted. One completely new solo adventure was included in Goldrake 104 (cover below).

And that's it. Next time I'll talk about Madame Brutal's letter column and speculate why she suddenly just disappeared from Goldrake's pages.

Thanks for satisfying my Madame Brutal craving. Lesbian babysitter slaves huh? or would that be lesbian slaves who where formerly babysitters? Either way it rocks.
Nice blog! i just found it :o
Monster Scholar,
it would be the latter. Madame Brutal ended up killing them all, but hey, it was fun while it lasted.
David,
thanks. I hope you enjoy your stay :)
Amazingly wicked. Kinda a retro-Ramba ... very nice.
Keep 'em coming!
AFare24Get,
Indeed she was. Why they kicked her out of the comic I'll never understand.
