BLACKEST NIGHT: Doug Mahnke's Frankenstein Monster

If Mahnke's art for Green Lantern (especially #43) has somehow failed to convince you of his horror chops, just check out this Frankenstein sketch he did for read/RANT!'s Bruce Castle at Long Beach Comic Con. More cool sketches at that link, including a Geoff Johns Hal Jordan.

He drew an entire Frankenstein series, Curt! It's part of Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers project. Frankenstein as monster-killer, slaughtering demons on Mars and shit. It's GREAT.

D'oh!--shows how much I know. Thanks for the heads-up, Sean. I'll be sure to check it out!

But it won't make any sense without reading the rest of 7 Soldiers (well, you'll miss a lot). The whole series is more than worth it, and you can get it for not too much.

Seven Soldiers is one of the few recent comic books I feel comfortable describing as a masterpiece.

Each mini-series can be read individually. But once you start reading, you'll want to read the others to get the full picture.

Frankenstein comes highly recommended as does the rest of 7 Soldiers.
